  • Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014!

The common questions that are asked when the year ends tends to always relate to your new year’s resolutions and what you accomplished this past year? I never have stopped to think much about it to be honest. For my first WordPress post, I will discuss this past year and what I hope to accomplish in the New Year! I will be writing a combination blogs on fashion, art and photography.  For my first WordPress Blog post I wanted to make it something more than a few words; something that would give my audience an idea of what I will be posting and will be a source of news for current trends and behind the scenes for my photography.

To get started I wanted to touch on what I accomplished in 2013! I accomplished my first year in photography school. I am about to embark on my second to last semester in a few days’ time. It has definitely been a year of learning about what makes me tick and gaining skills in the one thing I have always loved to do. It has been a struggle though staying creative when you are being taught to be very technical. Although this semester I will be taking a fashion course, so I should be able to enjoy this semester and feel comfortable in what I am shooting. Along with accomplishing my first year at photography school, I decided to take a trip to France and Scotland this past summer to improve my portfolio (which I feel I did accomplish) I will dedicate a separate blog post to my trip (as there was too much to discuss here). I don’t want people to get intimidated by a short story for my first post! HAHA I will mostly post more imagery (even more images from my shoots that don’t make it on my website or Facebook) but for my first post I wanted to just have a nice introduction to this aspect of my website!

Now onto 2014! I have quite the list of what I would like to accomplish this year, although they aren't my resolutions for this year per say. I have just 3 New Year’s resolutions for myself but as for my photography career I have a few things I would like to see come true. I would like to see myself travel to Japan (it has been 5 years since my last visit). I would like to go for pleasure and to inspire my photography. I would like to keep up this blogging to keep my thoughts on track and to get in touch with my fans. I want to graduate this year with my bachelors in fine arts with a concentration in professional photography in August. From there I would like to move to Los Angeles to intern for a company in the fashion and entertainment industry. Personally I would like to write in my personal journal more. I find it really relaxing.

Last but not least, I would like to start to build a team of professionals to join me in creating images for this year! I believe it will be beneficial to have familiar industry professionals to attend each shoot session. As time progresses you get to know each other and what to expect during a shoot so things run smoothly. Sometimes having different people help each time becomes a bit nerve-racking and can alter your results. The best thing a photographer can do is provide a constant quality that people will expect from you each time you shoot. As it was once said to me “You are only as good as your worst image.” I believe that to be true. If you have many brilliant images and one bad one, that one image will stand out for the wrong reasons. Here’s to a New Year and happy blogging!

Thanks for reading and I look forward to blogging again soon!
